Abbas Al-Murrani (Co-President)
Abbas has completed a Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Auckland in 2009 and held numerous positions at Auckland and Canterbury District Health Boards. Abbas is now looking at targeting a career combining his health and economics knowledge and experience. Abbas is currently enrolled in a Research Masters with particular focus on health economics. In his social time Abbas is an active footballer.

Pawani Malhotra (Co-President)
Pawani finished her BA(Economics)/BCom(Accounting and Finance) at the University of Auckland last year and is now pursuing her honours in Economics. Through her internship at Deloitte Consulting over the summer, she realized that Economics equips students with skills to de-construct a scenario to identify issues, strategies to solve these issue and analyse the impact of these strategies. Her research interests lie in Macroeconomics, Financial Economics and Development Economics.

Aaron Krebs (Director of Projects)
Aaron is in his fifth year of University. He is currently undertaking an Honours degree in Economics after completing a triple major in his undergraduate studies in Economics, Finance and Commercial Law. Aaron is leading Real World Economics (RWE) Projects. Through these teams Aaron hopes to extend his knowledge of economics to others while expanding his own. He hopes that those who engage in the RWE Projects too can appreciate economics and use it to change the world around us for the better.

Combined with her knowledge from participating in the 2013 competition as well her interpersonal skills, she looks to take on a facilitator role in this year’s Real World Economics Competition.

Michael Wang (Projects Team Member)
Michael is currently in his final year of undergraduate studies in BA/BCom, majoring in Economics, Mathematics and Statistics. Michael had the pleasure of participating in the 2013 Real World Economics Competition. MADE was attractive to him because he has always been intrigued by the real world links between economic theory and those practised at the policy level, weather that be macro-policy or applied econometrics. He look forward to continuing the MADE tradition of bring economics outside the classroom.

Zoe is currently in her third year of a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics and Finance. She is apart of the Real World Economics Projects team. Through these teams Zoe hopes to help broaden her knowledge and understanding on how economics affects people around the world.

Callum Rose (Co-Director of Policy)
Callum is currently completing his fourth year of a conjoint BCom/LLB(Hons), majoring in Economics and Finance. He will be serving on the Policy team in 2014, utilising his interest in current events and experience in debating. He will also be helping to organise the Applied Economics Workshop. Callum has always had a passion for economics and its practical applications, and is excited to be part of an organisation that makes the subject more widely understood.

Charles is currently studying towards an MA in Economics, having completed a BA (Economics/French) and Honours year in Economics. Charles is particularly interested in monetary and macroeconomics, and, having interned there, is looking forward to working at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand next year. He believes that involvement in groups like MADE is an invaluable addition to the profile of an economics graduate for the opportunities that it affords to apply an economist's way of thinking to the important questions of public policy.

Xindi Zhang (Director of Events)
Xindi is a fourth year BCom/BA student. She discovered a passion for development economics and public policy after witnessing first-hand how they shaped the societies she visited overseas. From there, she made a point to get involved in MADE. Her focus this year is to further develop MADE as a platform where like-minded students can engage and learn from each other.

Dion Eade (Events Team Member)
Dion is in his fifth year of a conjoint BA/BCom, majoring in Spanish, Economics and Finance, and is a part of the Events team having previously been on the Policy team. Working in customer focused roles such as retail banking he developed a love of people but while studying economics Dion realised the potential the field has for helping people and creating a better standard of living for everyone. He joined MADE believing it will help spread this idea of economics and get more people passionate about the possibility of a poverty free world in our life time.

Young Jin Kim (Events Team Member)
Young Jin is currently in his third year of a conjoint BCom/LLB, majoring in Economics and Finance. Young Jin developed an interest in economics through his affiliation with the Kelliher Economics Foundation where he had the chance to meet leading economists from all over the world. He is particularly interested in industrial organisation and energy economics and hopes to continue his studies to acquire further knowledge in these fields. As a member of the Policy team, Young Jin hopes to increase awareness in public policy and to engage the public’s interest in the economic issues facing New Zealand.

Paula Hontalba (Director of Marketing)
Paula is currently in her third year of BCom, majoring in Economics and Finance. She developed a passion for Economics after her mentors helped her realize the power of Economics in promoting social change. She hopes to engage other passionate students in the applications of the subject through her role as Marketing Director. She is particularly interested in public policy design and energy economics.
