Our Alumni
Alice Wang is currently in her fifth year of a conjoint BA/LLB. Studying philosophy and economics during her BA has pulled her toward public policy and economic regulation, and she recently spent a summer working for an international legal and regulatory practice in Auckland and Sydney. Alice is also particularly interested in social entrepreneurship and development, which has taken her to programmes at Zhejiang University in China and more recently to Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia. Alice currently works as a research assistant for Rhema Vaithianathan.
Jennie Yao is currently in her fourth year of a conjoint BCom/LLB, majoring in Economics. Throughout the years, economics has grown from being simply a subject to be studied, to a way of looking at and analysing the world we live in. Jennie has a particular interest in policy and economic regulation, and she recently spent a summer working for a legal practice in Beijing. Jennie will be interning at Deloitte this summer as part of their tax team.
Jenny Cheng is currently completing her third year of a conjoint law and economics degree. Her passion for her studies has stemmed into a particular interest in education policy and technology competition. Despite entering university a year ahead of her peers, Jenny has held a wide variety of leadership roles and enjoys engaging with people of different backgrounds and seniority. Both her parents are in business and she have benefited from their work ethic, practicality and values of empathy, tolerance and respect. Jenny looks forward to extensively travelling before pursuing postgraduate studies.
Kim Mundy undertook an internship at the New Zealand Treasury at the end of 2012. After her postgraduate studies in Economics she will be working at the New Zealand Treasury.
Shubhi Sharma is a final year Bachelor of Arts student. She found that the ability of economics to affect the lives of people immensely, coupled with its constant importance and relevance fascinated her and drove her to study the subject in greater depth. Her love for math and its significance in economics made her choose it as her second major. In the past, Shubhi has worked as an intern at the India Semiconductor Association and as the company administrator of Young Enterprise venture “Dark Blend”. She enjoys reading and analyzing the economic issues that confront the world today and playing the piano.
Vladimir Kuzmanoski is in his final year of a MCom in Economics and is currently researching the economics of banking regulation and its implications for financial stability. Vladimir has previously interned in the financial services industry and will continue to pursue this career following his studies. Vladimir currently works as a research assistant at the University of Auckland’s Energy Centre.
Zabin Farishta has completed her Bachelors of Commerce (Economics)/Bachelors of Engineering (Engineering Science) at the University of Auckland in 2012 and more recently, a Masters in Risk and Finance at the London School of Economics. Starry-eyed about wanting to 'get out there and make a difference', Zabin believes that MADE provided her with the empowerment to pursue this dream by putting her in touch with a lot of like-minded passionate people and opportunities. She will take up a Graduate position in Management Consulting with LEK Consulting in Melbourne in 2014.
